Ahoy, who is having a pirate themed party? Your party guests will love being served these pirate party sandwiches. Enjoy!
For the Pirate:
- 2 slices white bread
- Red pepper
- Olive slices
- Cucumber
- Radish slice
- Chives
- Orange nose (carrot, orange pepper or cheese)
- Sandwich filling of choice (turkey, cheese, ham etc.)
Cut slices of bread into circles with a sharp knife. Fill sandwich with a combination of your favorite ingredients, such as ham and cheese, turkey and cheese, turkey and avocado slices. If it is for a child’s party, try to choose ingredients that kids will be most likely to eat.
Now, cut a large red pepper slice to make the bandana of the pirate. Cut two little pieces to make the “ties”. Add eyes, nose, mouth and ears, as shown. Use olive slices without pimentos for earrings.
This is a great sandwich for any pirate themed party. If you want, you can choose to set out all the ingredients and let each little pirate make his own sandwich. Just provide a sample sandwich so they have an idea of what theirs should look like.
Oh how we loves these cute robot sandwiches. Not only perfect for a space themed party but also for something fun to eat for a fussy eater!
Robot Recipe
- 2 slices white bread
- 2 slices pumpernickel bread
- Apple slice
- Carrot
- Celery stick
- Orange or grapefruit (Beanie)
- Zucchini (for mouth)
- Cheerios (for eyes)
- Sandwich filling
Trim crusts from bread, then set white slices together and cut out a large semi-circle. Also cut a large semi-circle from the brown bread. Fill with sandwich filling.
Cut orange or grapefruit in half and then cut off the end “third” of the fruit, including the peel to use as the beanie. Pat dry to remove excess moisture before setting next to the bread. If necessary, trim the top of the head to fit the beanie. Cut a small slice of celery for the stem of the spinner and then cut two pointed ovals for spinner pieces. Set in place.
Use a piece of apple slice, with peel, for the “stripe” on the shirt. Cut a carrot slice in half for the ears and then cut two slices for the eyes. Use cheerios for the inside of the eyes. Cut a tiny piece of celery for the nose and then cut a sliver of zucchini, with peel, for the mouth.
For the Rocketship:
- 2 slices white bread
- 1 slice whole wheat bread
- Radish
- Cheese slice
- Assorted pepper slices
- Cucumber slice
- Cheese for star
- Sandwich filling of your choice
Cut bread slices into a rocket shape from white bread. Fill with sandwich filling of your choice. Ham & cheese? Turkey and mayo? Cut rocketship legs from whole wheat bread. Cut cheese slice legs and orange pepper legs to add to the top of the whole wheat legs. Cut three thin radish slices to add for rocketship windows. Make flames beneath rocketship from yellow pepper. To finish off, cut a star from a cheese slice or orange pepper. Make a “moon” slice from cucumber.
I’m always on the look out for cute idea’s to make your kids parties special. I found this great idea for party food for a safari party. These cute elephant & giraffe themed sandwiches are not only cute to look at but super healthy!
To make the Giraffe Sandwich:
- 2 slices whole meal bread
- Carrot rounds
- Apple slice
- Celery
- Snap peas
- Sandwich filling
Remove all crusts, then set one slice of bread on top of the other. Cut out a large oval for the giraffe head and a curved neck. Fill both sections with desired sandwich filling and assemble together on plate to form the giraffe.
For the Elephant:
- 2 slices Pumpernickel bread
- 2 slices White bread
- Orange pepper
- Ham slice
- Chives
- Green grape
- Cheese for eyes
- Sandwich filling
Put pumpernickel bread slices together and then cut out a large circle. We used a glass with a large opening to cut out our round or if you have a large round cutter that would work also. Set white bread slices together and then cut two large ears for the elephant. Fill sandwiches with desired filling and arrange on the plate. Ham and cheese work well for this sandwich, as you will be adding a layer of ham on top of the ears.
From a slice of ham, cut two slightly smaller ears that will rest on top of the “ear” sandwich sections. Cut two long slices of orange pepper from the sides of your pepper. Make the long, fat part of the trunk from one piece and then cut a curved “c” shape that will form the lower part of the trunk. Place the curved section on the plate, beneath the upper part of the trunk.
Cut two slices from the grape for eyes and then cut smaller circles from a white food, such as cheese, apple or zucchini. Use whatever you have on hand. Cut small stems of chives to place in the elephant’s trunk, to look as though he is eating.
